We first met at Kingston Chinese Christian Fellowship at Queen’s University, but only exchanged the occasional hey. Somehow, after a couple of years, we started chatting after fellowship one night. Soon after that fateful night, Michael left for exchange, but not before our first visit to a coffee shop to set off some tiny sparks…we mean, to talk about Morrison Academy (since Elaine was applying to schools overseas and Michael graduated from Morrison!). At this point, Michael had a growing interest in Elaine, but Elaine was questioning his choice of hairstyles after stalking him on Facebook.
However, for some reason, we never stopped talking with Google Hangouts, Snapchat and Facebook Messenger being our avid friends. Magnets you know. We made it through long distance dating and sporadic visits across oceans. Some may describe our dates as "elderly activities" like going on walks, exploring different neighborhoods, sipping coffee at cafes and reflecting, taking photos, and writing the occasional blog post. We also enjoy making homemade coffee (we’d love to have you over for a fresh cup of coffee)!
His design. His doing. His grace.
His design. His doing. His grace.
"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church." (Ephesians 5:31-32)
Marriage was created by God. He created marriage to be a beautiful covenant union between a man and woman but more importantly, He created marriage to give us a glimpse of His relationship with His people. God designed marriage knowing that Jesus Christ was to come as the "groom" for His "bride", His people.
Jesus gave himself up as a sacrifice for us. He came to earth in human form so that He could die for us on the cross. He resurrected three days later to pay the penalty of our sins and restore our broken relationship with Him.
Because of His grace, there is hope and freedom for all those who believe. His grace is the only reason this special day is happening.
Come celebrate with us!
